The BIS Program: Foundations is an 8-week online, cohort-based program of 4 courses that introduces learners to the world of therapeutics discovery, development, and commercialization. The program features live webinars with industry experts and practice activities based on real-world examples that enable learners to reinforce and deepen their learnings from the online modules as well as develop and strengthen their business acumen and professional skills. Learners also have the opportunity to grow their industry network through interactions with other participants.

The modules in this course provide an overview of therapeutics development in the life sciences industry, a historic and current look at inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) in therapeutics development, and an introduction to intellectual property in therapeutics development.
Through the modules in this course, participants gain an understanding of the key stages of therapeutic discovery: target selection, target validation, and lead optimization. Criteria for advancing therapeutics from discovery to development are also discussed.
The modules in this course provide an understanding of the preclinical development process to gain Investigational New Drug (IND) approval to move a therapeutic candidate to clinical trials including an introduction to pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and an understanding of each clinical trial phase.
Participants gain an understanding of strategic commercialization, the different phases of the product lifecycle, market sizing, and assessing commercial potential. In the learning consolidation activity, participants gain an understanding of developing a target product profile (TPP).
Early career professionals interested in careers in the life sciences industry
This program is open to individuals interested in a career in the life sciences industry, either currently employed or working/training in academia, with a view to transitioning to commercial organizations. Participants must possess a BSc. or equivalent degree and must be residing in Canada.

The adMare Academy is committed to actioning the principles of IDEA and creating learning spaces that include and welcome the whole diversity in Canada. As a national program, each cohort has learners from across Canada.

$250
The program fee supports adMare’s ability to offer this program and helps to cover some of the costs associated with the curriculum and program delivery.
To earn a certificate for completing the BIS Program: Foundations, all assigned content in the four courses must be successfully completed. Participation in the live webinar sessions is required.
In the cohort model, learners complete the courses sequentially, completing the entire program in approximately 8 weeks (4-8 hours per week).
